I love being able to take pictures of the various things happening in the game or the horde of zombies I just killed. But most of all I enjoy the freedom of being able to do what you want without any rush of a time limit or a strict story mode to follow.
Also making items, healing, and leveling up is so much easier in this game compared to previous games in the series. Overall I recommend this game to anyone who loves being able to change outfits, make cool weapons and play a free world game.
I read all the negative reviews before purchasing this game. While it is not as good as 3, it is still very fun and fits the DR franchise.
There are some glitches, most of which I did not experience the first time playing through the story they might have fixed some from when the game was first released, I got it months later.
I do miss the cutscenes for the psychos, but they were not removed. The lack of a timer diminishes the replay value severely, and the fact that there is only one ending, does the same.
Overtime now requires you to purchase the DLC, which is another disappointment. The only other letdown was that survivors no longer follow you, so you can't run around with a posse anymore, which was one of the most fun things to do in 3.
Otherwise the game is great. The story is good, and is done in a new way they review what you've already completed. The new weapons are great and all of my favorites are also back.
The new way to access and sort through weapons is far superior to even 3. There are plenty of new clothes to find too, and some cool new combo vehicles, but some of the great combo vehicles were also removed.
It's also nice to be back in Willamette, even if the mall is new and the city unfamiliar. There are new types of areas to explore, like a farm, so you're not only in the city like 3.
The absolute best part of the game is that Frank West is back!! His antics and comedic comments make the game.
I recommend purchasing the game used. This review does not include multiplayer, as I do not play online. Game was really fun, I liked how there was no stupid time clock like the old games so there was no rush, but the storyline was really short.
I hope dlc makes up for it and another thing that I didn't get was how easy the maniac encounters were, I remember the maniacs from DR2 were perfectly thought out and they were really weird and wacky unlike in this game.
But overall really fun and always kept me on the edge of my seat. It's not the best Dead Rising game I've played but it's still a decent game.
Since it was a Dead Rising sequel I had high expectations, and hoped that it would be great like Dead Rising 3. I've heard of some the downsides no escorting survivors, no psychopaths, different voice actor, etc.
I'm not going to spoil the game but the story leaves a lot to be desired. The story is a lot shorter than in the previous core Dead Rising games I managed to finish the game's story mode in about 14 hours, this includes playing the very few side missions available I can't remember how many there are but I think it's safe to say under It kind of bothers me that this game has a seasonal theme to it, and it would feel pretty weird to play during summer.
I'd say this Dead Rising sequel is really watered down. A lot of things that made the Dead Rising series great wasn't there, and the game's difficulty is a bit too easy.
I recall Dead Rising were fun because of the challenges such as surviving zombies with the meager health you're given in the beginning, and fighting tough psychos.
In Dead Rising 4, you can simply make a lot of combo weapons to kill the zombies, and defeat the maniacs and bosses easily.
The zombies don't feel like much of a threat anymore, compared to the previous Dead Rising titles. And it hurts to say it but I understand that the developers were trying to make this game friendly to newcomers, but why sacrifice key elements to make the game more accessible?
However, aside from the complaints I'm making, the gameplay is solid, and I think the map is bigger than the Dead Rising 3's map. It's an alright game, but nothing special.
If you're a fan of the series, you'll have a ball playing this game. It pretty much sticks to the same formula as DR 3.
There are also some new items such as an exo power suit. The game has a 50 GB update, so I didn't experience the glitches that earlier purchasers did.
It's a good value for 25 bucks. Showing of reviews. Top Reviews Most recent Top Reviews. There was a problem filtering reviews right now.

Shows you at the end of each chapter how many other players made the same choices as you. Still get to kick some zombie ass! Great characters and story.
Gives you all the feels that you would have if you were really your character in a zombie apocalypse. You can finish it really fast if you get addicted to it which you will.
Lots of swearing and gore plus for us, con for some. You might cry a lot. Totally get this game. But, make sure to buy the second one as well.
Otherwise you will be frustrated with yourself at the end when you ignore my advice and have to wait to recievw the second game.
I was pleasantly surprised at how engrossing and enjoyable this game is. I had put off buying it for a long time as it was described by many as light on game play and heavy on story or just watching the action take place.
While that is true, the story is so well done and involving that it makes for an exceptional experience. The game play itself is satisfying and feels integral to the story.
Much of it consists of making time-constrained dialogue choices within the social setting of the game.
Those choices, often during very tense moments, have very real consequences through out the game on how it is played and how you are treated by your fellow survivors.
There are plenty of action sequences as well that will require you to take out zombies to survive. Certainly not as polished as most modern games, but it works and there is a degree of difficulty to it.
My only wish is that they had made the controller customizable. I typically like to invert the y axis which you cannot do in this game.
Additionally, the right thumb stick controls the aiming and you also use your right thumb to fire by pressing the "A" button.
Minor gripes, great game. One person found this helpful. I am not a big gamer, but I loved this game from the second I started it.
There's a time limit for all your choices so you have to act fast, and the path you choose has real consequences going forward.
The voice acting and writing are terrific; when I finished playing, I felt like I had just watched a really great film. I even got emotional a couple of times.
The reviews aren't lying - this is an excellent game and well worth playing. If you're ordering it, go ahead and add season 2 to your cart as well - you're going to wind up doing it anyway and this way you avoid a delay between the two.
Telltale games should be ashamed of themselves. This game shows promise for the writing, but it is completely unplayable from the disc. Even after all the negative publicity.
Guess what, it stutters so bad, you can't even get through the tutorial sections. I have played some of this game and it is a role playing game where your choices will help make the game.
It is a little scary, suspenseful and filled with action. I haven't finished this one but I have enjoyed this one so far.
At one point in the beginning I was in a panic about what to do. I was like oh god oh god what do I do! However I can't get past how slow I sat down to play it the other night and after I got past a malfunctioning controller, the game played pretty well.
However I can't get past how slow it is and only lasted about an hour. My child, whom the game was actually purchased for loves the game though.
I am hoping season one and season two play a bit differently as we have those on pre-order. The Walking Dead game was very entertaining and drew me into the story line instantly.
The graphics were better then the IOS version and the sound was really good. I played through the entire game and the DLC over a weekend and really had a good time playing it.
However, there were some drawbacks. At least for me, the black levels were horrible even with the brightness turned to a I play a lot of videogames and this was the first game to make me feel this way.
I noticed the game glitched for me twice requiring me to play specific sections over again. Button queues would be missing and I had to look at a gaming websites walkthrough to determine it was glitching.
Overall a fun game and quick achievements but I wouldn't of been so willing to give a good review if this game was full price.
I purchased game since I am a big walking dead fan. I got the game and put in my xbox system. It is a pre owned game.
Right off the bat it started stuttering and when I got to a point to where the game really starts to pick up action it freezes for a few seconds making it nearly impossible to get to the next point.
After trying for about an hour I gave up. I contacted best buy and they sent me another game and shipping label to return 1st game I purchased.
Same deal on this game. I did some research on the issues and found out it is a known manufacturer issue for the game purchased at retail stores and it mostly affects the 4gb system.
I have the 4gb system so I will either have to purchase a bigger hard drive for my xbox or the game is useless to me. I may just cut my losses on this game.
